Description
AUTOOL PT610 Digital Cylinder Pressure Gauge
The AUTOOL PT610 is a professional digital engine compression tester developed for measuring cylinder pressure in compatible petrol engines.
Proper and balanced cylinder compression is essential for reliable combustion and engine performance. Low or uneven compression can indicate problems involving piston rings, valves, cylinder-head gaskets, cylinder walls or valve timing.
The PT610 gives automotive technicians clear digital readings and stores pressure results for as many as six cylinders, making it easier to compare compression values without recording every measurement manually.
Intelligent Digital Pressure Measurement
Unlike a conventional analogue compression gauge, the PT610 uses a digital measurement system to present important test information clearly.
The screen can display:
- Real-time cylinder pressure
- Average pressure value
- Current temperature
- Measurement duration
- Saved pressure values for individual cylinders
This organized display helps technicians evaluate cylinder performance more efficiently.
Wide 0–426.6 PSI Measuring Range
The AUTOOL PT610 offers a wide pressure-measurement range suitable for many compatible petrol-engine compression tests:
- 0–426.6 PSI
- 0–29.4 Bar
- 0–30 kg/cm²
Pressure units can be changed directly from the tester, allowing technicians to work with their preferred measurement standard.
2.8-Inch Backlit Display
The clear 2.8-inch HD screen includes an adjustable backlight for convenient use in bright or poorly illuminated workshop environments.
With a stated display resolution of 0.01, the PT610 presents detailed digital measurements without relying on the operator to estimate the position of an analogue needle.
Six-Cylinder Data Storage and Comparison
The PT610 can save pressure results for up to six cylinders.
After measuring each cylinder, the operator can store its reading and compare it with the remaining cylinders. This feature is especially useful when checking whether one or more cylinders have significantly lower pressure than the others.
Available data functions include:
- Save cylinder measurement
- Store up to six cylinder results
- Lock the displayed value
- Clear stored interface data
- Reset pressure to zero
- Compare cylinder readings
Switchable Pressure and Temperature Units
The tester supports several measurement units for convenient workshop operation.
Pressure units
- PSI
- Bar
- kg/cm²
Temperature units
- Degrees Celsius
- Degrees Fahrenheit
The unit settings can be changed using the buttons on the tester.
Quick Pressure-Release Function
A dedicated quick-release valve allows the technician to release retained pressure quickly after completing a measurement.
This makes it easier to reset the tester before moving to the next cylinder and helps speed up the complete engine compression test.
Durable Copper Adapters
The PT610 kit includes several copper adapters for connecting the pressure tester to compatible spark-plug openings.
The copper construction provides:
- Good wear resistance
- Corrosion resistance
- Oxidation resistance
- Secure threaded connection
- Dependable workshop durability
Always select the adapter that correctly matches the engine’s spark-plug thread.
Reinforced Extra-Long Hose
The included reinforced rubber hose measures approximately 78.7 inches, or two metres.
Its extended length provides convenient access when working around different engine layouts. The hose is designed to withstand pressure, heat and repeated bending during normal workshop use.

How to Use the AUTOOL PT610
- Bring the engine to the testing condition specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Switch off the engine and follow the correct safety procedure.
- Disable fuel injection and ignition as required.
- Remove the spark plug from the cylinder being tested.
- Select the correct threaded adapter for the spark-plug opening.
- Connect the adapter, hose and PT610 pressure gauge securely.
- Switch on the tester and reset the pressure reading to zero.
- Crank the engine according to the manufacturer’s compression-test procedure.
- Read the measured pressure on the digital display.
- Save the result under the corresponding cylinder number.
- Release the pressure and repeat the process for the remaining cylinders.
- Compare all saved readings with the manufacturer’s specifications.
What Can a Compression Test Help Identify?
A cylinder-compression test can support the diagnosis of conditions such as:
- Difficult engine starting
- Engine misfires
- Rough idling
- Reduced engine power
- Excessive oil consumption
- Uneven cylinder performance
- Worn piston rings
- Leaking intake or exhaust valves
- Damaged cylinder-head gasket
- Cylinder or piston wear
- Incorrect valve timing
A compression test indicates a pressure condition but does not automatically identify its exact mechanical cause. Additional diagnosis, such as a wet compression test or cylinder leak-down test, may be required.
Suitable For
The AUTOOL PT610 is suitable for:
- Automotive repair workshops
- Engine rebuilders
- Motorcycle workshops
- Vehicle inspection centres
- Automotive diagnostic technicians
- Mobile mechanics
- Fleet maintenance departments
- Automotive training institutes
- Experienced DIY vehicle owners
Important Compatibility Notice
The PT610 is primarily designed for cylinder-compression testing on compatible petrol engines through the spark-plug opening.
Before purchasing or operating the tester, confirm:
- Engine type
- Expected compression range
- Spark-plug thread size
- Adapter compatibility
- Vehicle manufacturer’s testing procedure
Do not use the tester on a diesel engine if the engine’s compression pressure exceeds the PT610’s rated range or if suitable diesel-specific adapters are not supplied. Diesel engines commonly require a dedicated high-pressure diesel compression tester.
Compression readings vary according to engine design, temperature, battery condition, cranking speed, altitude and testing procedure. Always compare results with the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications.
Safety Information
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Keep hands, clothing and cables away from moving engine components.
- Disable fuel delivery and ignition when required by the service procedure.
- Allow excessively hot engine components to cool before installing adapters.
- Confirm that every adapter and hose connection is secure.
- Do not exceed the tester’s rated pressure range.
- Release stored pressure before disconnecting the hose.
- Wear suitable eye and hand protection.
- Compression testing should be performed by a trained technician.
